Creating The Roof

I decided my witches dolls house needed a slate roof so I used recycled card packaging to cut lots and lots of tiles. It took quite some time as I wanted each tile to be unique and not uniform in shape. I then glued the tiles to the roof overlapping each one slightly until the whole roof was covered. To complete the roof I added roof ridge tiles also made from card to the very top point of the roof.

Once the glue had dried and all the tiles were secure I then painted them in different tones of grey acrylic paint. To highlight all the imperfections in the tiles I then dry brushed them with lighter tones of grey and of course I had to add moss for a little bit of whimsy

I am so pleased with how my roof turned out, it was a labour of love as it took a long time to complete but it was so worth it.
